His primary responsibilities are to diagnose the oncology patient and the use of image-guided therapies for oncology patients.
The Department of Radiology provides a whole spectrum of inpatient and outpatient radiology imaging services at the USC Norris Comprehensive Cancer Center and Hospital. The department has been totally upgraded with the installation of the first 64 slice CT scanner on the campus - Phillips Brilliance 64 Channel CT scanner – and the recent replacement of our interventional suite with a Siemens Axiom Angiography suite. This unit is capable of acquiring CT type images during the course of interventional studies allowing for more directed and efficient procedures. A new digital imaging multifunction suite complements the imaging area. The Lee Breast Center has seen the transformation to a completely digital environment leading to a state-of-the-art breast imaging center. The Department has stand alone image processing stations which allow for better evaluation of the oncology patient. In addition, there is a campus-wide PACS network that permits viewing images anywhere and anytime on the campus no matter where the patient was examined. USC Norris annually performs more than 13000 CT scans, 9000 mammograms, 3200 ultrasound scans, 1200 interventional procedures and 1100 nuclear medicine studies.
