Pathology and Laboratory Medicine – Microbiology Director

The USC Department of Pathology & Laboratory Medicine invites applicants for the position of microbiology director at Keck Hospital of USC and USC Norris Cancer Hospital.

The successful applicant should be either a board certified pathologist or fellowship-trained clinical microbiologist with expertise in diagnostic clinical microbiology. Applicants should have experience using molecular microbiology platforms as well as culture-based diagnostic methods required for patient care in a tertiary/quaternary care health care system. Applicants should have demonstrated ability to provide medical direction of the laboratory, to implement new diagnostic tests, and to interact with clinicians in an academic medical center environment. M.D. candidates must hold or be eligible for a California Medical license. The appointment is open rank in the clinical professorial series. 

The Department of Pathology & Laboratory Medicine is staffed by 87 faculty who serve the educational, clinical, and research mission of the Keck School of Medicine. Keck Hospital of USC and USC Norris Cancer Hospital are major facilities within the USC academic health system. The Department of Pathology & Lab Medicine provides all diagnostic services that support tertiary/quaternary inpatient services. Major clinical programs include those of the NCI-designated USC Norris Comprehensive Cancer Center (hematologic malignancies, urologic, breast, and colon cancer), transplant programs that include liver, heart and lung, and growing programs in neuro-oncology, women’s health, cardiology, immunology, and infectious diseases.
