The Keck School of Medicine of the University of Southern California, Department of Psychiatry and the Behavioral Sciences, is seeking to fill a position as Associate Professor of Research in Psychiatry in support of and participation in departmental research activities through: participation in the authorship of research grant and contract proposals, participation in research/contract budget preparations; participation in research activities as a co-investigator; administrative coordination of multi-site research collaborations; preparation of IRB submissions, amendments and continuing reviews; provision of guidance on IRB issues at collaborating sites; authorship of federal human subjects applications (e.g., Certificate of Confidentiality); liaison with grant/contract funding agency on various administrative issues; participation in research project oversight meetings and executive committee conference calls/meetings; involvement in other research activities as necessary. This position will also provide leadership and overall guidance and assistance to junior investigators in all aspects of research proposal preparation.
Special Training/Experience/Skills Required:
Advanced degree (PhD, ScD, MD) and experience in fields related to the conduct of population-based genetics research in neuropsychiatric disorders, especially schizophrenia. Genetics-based laboratory experience preferred. Track record in peer-reviewed, original research publications and in the acquisition of competitive research grants from federal and/or non-federal sources. Demonstrated ability to critically review and summarize literature in neuropsychiatric genetics and to assist in the development of research programs to address needs in the field. Team player with demonstrated ability to participate as part of multi-site collaborative research programs.
